With Claudia Pasquero and Marco Poletto from ecologicstudio as tutors students had been showing their development in research of their specific apparatus. Branching mechanisms, creating forms out of melted wax, recycling materials, and lots of other different systems where one can read and interpret different situations based on the research theme, With two weeks left to develop their projects, students are preparing for their final research outcome and documentation of the process.

For this experiment the materials used were, wax, plaster and soapy water+wax. The mappings were a 2×2 and a 3x3cm grid and the length was 40cm.

Being able to use materials that can freeze the moment makes it easier to analise the results but on the other hand it loses the on going possibility of self organizing over and over again.

Because of technical difficulties it was impossible to dip the sample more than once, and that made the results very unstable. I’m now working on a new apparatus that will allow even longer samples to be dipped many times giving them more stability.

Research on the reorganization of flows and forces that give shape to a city. Starting point: THE VOID (i.e. public space).

Finding optimal walking distances between main public spaces (250 mts), a network of movility and interaction mingles through the built environment, emulating the current urban tissue which is a result of self organization… Learning from self organization, understanding its simple rules and its emerging complexity.

Mumbai´s reality:

TOO dense and still growing.

Scarcity of resources: Water, energy and waste management; conflict in movility and lack of personal living space.
