Smart Citizen Barcelona Relaunching

IAAC|Fab Lab Barcelona is pleased to announce the Smart Citizen Open Thursdays cycle.

The cycle will start next Thursday, November 13th, marking the beginning of a series of regular meetings of the SmartCitizen community.

These meetings will take place at Hangar and will be open for both users and the general audience interested in the SmartCitizen movement.

Open Thursdays will offer workshops and lectures on the different technologies, sensors and software used, as well as discussion forums, working groups and troubleshooting.

Where: at Hangar, c/Emilia Coranty 16, 08018 Barcelona, Spain.

When: every thursday from 19.00 hours.

In this first opening session, the Project’s Founders will present the Smart Citizen project, as well as explaining the hardware and technology used for the project’s development.

Smart Citizen Project @ CentroCentro Cibeles

The “Smart Citizen” project will be presented at the Simposio Ciudad Intelligente | Ciudad Creativa | Smart City on the 11th of June at 17.15 at the CentroCentro, Palacio de Cibeles.

Smart Citizen is a sensor board based in Arduino that could be used as a environmental conditions detector in each citizen’s balcony, using their WiFi connection and solar powered. An Open-Source Environmental Monitoring Platform consisting of arduino-compatible hardware, data visualization web API, and mobile app.

Smart Citizen is a start-up project developed by IAAC, FAB LAB Barcelona, MID Media Interactive Design, Acrobatic Industries, HANGAR.ORG.

MAI Smart Net Studio presentation

The MAI students presented the Smart Net Studio Project that they have been developing during the december and january. The 6 groups of students proposed each one an intervention based in the Fablab “smart citizen” project. The work was presented in front of the tutors that have been leading the students research, and in front of the jury, composed by different experts related to the fields of interaction, economy and engineering.
