<p style="text-align: center">For the task 3 of Design Associativity, we started by taking the most important information about Santa Coloma de Gramenet, Badalona and Sant Andreu in Barcelona, which is the place where one of us is working for the studio Emergent Territories. <span id="more-1779"></span></p>
<p><img class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-1781" alt="DA3-02" src="http://legacy.iaacblog.com/maa2013-2014-designing-associativity/files/2014/03/DA3-02-730x564.png" width="730" height="564" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center">The task started with an analysis of what it&#8217;s happening in this area because of the physical division that the river Besos creates. We mention the problematic by statistics of facts that occur in both sides and then we selected a random data about the sound and took it for develop a specific project for this subject.</p>
<p style="text-align: center"><img alt="DA3-03" src="http://legacy.iaacblog.com/maa2013-2014-designing-associativity/files/2014/03/DA3-03-730x564.png" width="730" height="564" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center"><img alt="DA3-04" src="http://legacy.iaacblog.com/maa2013-2014-designing-associativity/files/2014/03/DA3-04-730x564.png" width="730" height="564" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center">We mapped the levels of sound where we can see that the noise is higher than the standars recommended for health, which are between 40 and 75 dBA.</p>
<p style="text-align: center"><img alt="DA3-05" src="http://legacy.iaacblog.com/maa2013-2014-designing-associativity/files/2014/03/DA3-05-730x564.png" width="730" height="564" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center"><img alt="DA3-06" src="http://legacy.iaacblog.com/maa2013-2014-designing-associativity/files/2014/03/DA3-06-730x564.png" width="730" height="564" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center">Our concept tries to create a physical platform made of sound where we can connect the highest points and build a pedestrian path that changes depending of the sound data in real time, according to the amount of people that are interacting in this area.</p>
<p style="text-align: center"><img alt="DA3-07" src="http://legacy.iaacblog.com/maa2013-2014-designing-associativity/files/2014/03/DA3-07-730x564.png" width="730" height="564" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center"><img alt="DA3-08" src="http://legacy.iaacblog.com/maa2013-2014-designing-associativity/files/2014/03/DA3-08-730x564.png" width="730" height="564" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center"><img alt="DA3-09" src="http://legacy.iaacblog.com/maa2013-2014-designing-associativity/files/2014/03/DA3-09-730x564.png" width="730" height="564" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center"><img alt="DA3-10" src="http://legacy.iaacblog.com/maa2013-2014-designing-associativity/files/2014/03/DA3-10-730x564.png" width="730" height="564" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center">We translate the dBA data into a 3D surface and we run it in Galapagos to find what we think is the most optimun level for the people of this place, allowing them to escape from the noise, improving their pedestrian way to live.</p>
<p style="text-align: center"><img alt="DA3-11" src="http://legacy.iaacblog.com/maa2013-2014-designing-associativity/files/2014/03/DA3-11-730x564.png" width="730" height="564" /></p>

<div>Hydro Panel</div>
<div></div>
<div>//The panel is made by two surfaces containing hydrogel spheres in between. It works as a cooling facade system which absorbs water from the rain and keeps the facade cool for a longer time as the water evaporates slowly.</div>
<p style="text-align: left"><a href="http://legacy.iaacblog.com/maa2013-2014-designing-associativity/files/2014/03/A3-01.jpg"><span id="more-1605"></span><br />
<img class="aligncenter  wp-image-1606" alt="A3-01" src="http://legacy.iaacblog.com/maa2013-2014-designing-associativity/files/2014/03/A3-01.jpg" width="715" height="505" /></a></p>
<div></div>
<div>
<div>
<div>Setup</div>
<div></div>
<div> //The volume required by one sphere of hydrogel to grow to its maximum size is 4 cm3. By tilting one cell of the panel we can determine the area of the triangle in which the water will collect. By associating this area to the magnitude of estrusion the cell will always have the volume of the container enough for one sphere. The rest of the area needs to be perforated for the collection of water and ventilation.</div>
<div></div>
<div></div>
<p>Parameters and optimization</p>
</div>
<div></div>
<div>//The parameters used to optimize the geometry of the cell are the volume of water required by one sphere, the total exposed surface area and the size of perforations on the inside. The volume is kept constant while maximizing the exposed area and size of perforations on the outside and the minimizing the size of perforations on the inside.</div>
<div></div>
</div>
<div></div>
