For the task 3 of Design Associativity, we started by taking the most important information about Santa Coloma de Gramenet, Badalona and Sant Andreu in Barcelona, which is the place where one of us is working for the studio Emergent Territories. 

The task started with an analysis of what it’s happening in this area because of the physical division that the river Besos creates. We mention the problematic by statistics of facts that occur in both sides and then we selected a random data about the sound and took it for develop a specific project for this subject.

We mapped the levels of sound where we can see that the noise is higher than the standars recommended for health, which are between 40 and 75 dBA.

Our concept tries to create a physical platform made of sound where we can connect the highest points and build a pedestrian path that changes depending of the sound data in real time, according to the amount of people that are interacting in this area.

We translate the dBA data into a 3D surface and we run it in Galapagos to find what we think is the most optimun level for the people of this place, allowing them to escape from the noise, improving their pedestrian way to live.

The Happy Planet Index (HPI) introduced  by the New Economic Foundation (NEF) ranks 151 countries across the globe on the basis of how many long, happy and sustainable lives they provide for the people that live in them per unit of environmental output. Put another way, it represents the efficiency with which countries convert the Earth’s finite resources into well being experienced by their citizens.

The Global HPI incorporates three separate indicators:

1. Ecological footprint (the amount of land needed to provide for all their resource requirements plus the amount of vegetated land needed to absorb all their CO2 emissions and the CO2 emissions embodied in the products they consume)

2. Life satisfaction (health as well as “subjective well-being” components such as a sense of individual vitality, opportunities to undertake meaningful, engaging activities,
inner resources that help one cope when things go wrong, close relationships with friends and family, belonging to a wider community)

3. Life expectancy

The diagram represents 151 countries according to their position in the list.
The outer circle shows top 61 countries, inner circles represent countries with lower HPI.

Color code :

life expectancy, well-being and ecological footprint are given a traffic-light score based on thresholds for good (green), middling (yellow) and bad (red) performance. These scores are combined to an expanded traffic light for the overall HPI score, where, to achieve bright green a country would have to perform well on all three individual components.

There are many indicators of happiness for each country.

Weather, food, cultures, festival, religions, health etc. are the first of what I can come up with.

But lifestyle also plays a huge part in happiness, party, drinking and

smoking are undeniably featuring in this equation.

Have a look at the happiest and unhappiest country in Europe

in comparison to alcohol consumption and drugs usage.

Are they the factors of happiness or are they just a fraction of lifestyle

and not necessarily play a big part here.
