<p>The design of the tiles evolves from the decomposition of the hexagon shape. Starting from the outside, each side of the shape would rotate and reduce its scale approximating the centre. As it moves inwards towards the midpoint, each resulting triangle would also be positioned a step higher. The end result would be similar to a pyramid.<span id="more-2012"></span></p>

<div>We wanted to experiment with different textures. For this we used two different strategies and tools to create the mold in the milling machine. Starting with a parallel strategy with a Ballmilll 6 in the whole mold, we then sectioned the mold in 3 stretched triangles and applied the radial strategy with a ball mill 12 tool over these areas. On these specific zones, both textures overlap, resulting in a contrasted pattern. The richness of the pattern is this combination of textures that accentuates the stair effect of the geometry.</div>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Metamorphosis project is a series of geometrical moments obtained by stretching an assemblage of arched rods. There are 3 types of 3D-printed joints: the base joint (B) fixes the structure to the board, the &#8220;plug&#8221; joint (A) slots in and twist-locks into the base joint, and the &#8221;slider&#8221; (C) connects and moves along two adjacent rods. The geometrical moments can be created by changing the position of the plug joint in the board, or also by moving the base joint into the laser-cut holes. The chosen arrangement either expands or contracts the shape of the metamorphosing caterpillar whilst the slider deforms the body in various axes. Finally, the addition of a hinge in the board allows for the compression of the structure at an different angles. Combining 3 different strategies, the object (or parts of it) can be stretched compressed and twisted into an infinite number of geometries.</p>

The right qualities to go for the main goal of the term, as high as possible. Because of this, and so where dimensions have a big value, the first thing to look for was the stability by interlocking , in order not to permit any movement to the structure; indeed it has such a compact shape that you can even lie it horizontally without any movement. We reach this point, as said, focusing on the force to pressure that a wood can have if placed vertically, strong like a stone, but at the same time the minimum of electromotive force, in fact used in small pieces, to give it extreme stability and not to be too stressed to break. Connecting with these use of materials we though the puzzle joints as another flexible part to help and exploit the wood’s tension.</p>
