Traditional design strategies seem insufficient to address the complexity of problems affecting contemporary cities today. Emerging design practices are claiming increase the relevance of architecture at an urban scale, by exploring organizational systems integrating topography, buildings, landscape, economy and infrastructure.
The workshop is called “The City by Section” and will be concentrating on the sectional representation of the city. By studying the existing urban consitions existing in the Besos area composed of fragmented territories, students will detect regimes and relationships that could articulate and connect the area through the use of organizational systems in section at the architectural scale, integrating infraestructure, landscape, architecture and urban design.
IAAC students will work concurrently with SCI-Arc students will use their project their project they are working on.
