Gilles Deleuze, Felix Guattari – Rizoma

Rizoma from the book ”A Thousand Plateaus: Capitalism and Schizophrenia” , Gilles Deleuze, Felix Guattari

Where are you from? Where are you going? Where are you coming from? What are you heading for?
Are all these useless questions? Do we need to establish a logic of conjunction instead of defining a series of ontological parameters?
Western minds tend to classify notions, persons and everything that surrounds us in a hierarchical way. Using the idea of “to be” we make arbolic tree-like structures in which one can find classified entities and can often encounter a strict order. However, all these individuals here, in this educational institute, create something diferent than a vertical strict structure which extends its branches in a diversity of countries. Every one of us is a node connecting non-linearly and unpredictably to each other. We interact, we cultivate relations, we destroy connections, we build new ones, we finally have created a social network. Our relations tend to be non uniform, exchanging ideas and sentiments and in the same time sharing experiences with different intensities every time. Some relations in the end will grow really strong and some will prove to be unfunctional.
