MAA Seminar: Form Finding with Christine Otto Kanstinger

During the seminar Form Finding the MAA students disconnected  themselves from  digital modeling and worked on physical models that they could help them find form and structure at the same time.

The seminar ‘Form finding’  is leaded by Cristine Otto Kanstinger. The first session  took place  at  ’Sagrada Familia’  temple in Barcelona the last Monday. The objective of this visit was to see and analyse the catenary model of the Cripta Güell exhibited there,  which was made some years ago by a team lead by Frei Otto (Cristine’s father) and shows the way that Gaudí was prototyping his structures. During the workshop, the students are building similar models using simple materials like steel clips, wood rods or natural fibers that allow to prototype lightweight structures and learn from Otto Kanstinger’s broad experience in this field.”
