After endless nights of hard work the fablab House has been constructed in Madrid. With its theme ‘Form follows energy’, the house is now using the resources of its environment – the sun, water and wind to create a microclimate that will improve the basic conditions of habitability. The fablab house is also now serving as a workshop space where digital fabrication,innovation and creativity is encouraged. This sunday more than 5o children have realized drawings of their ideal solar house. They were supported by the fablab house team to win a fablab house cap with their names digitally imprinted on it.The competition for the next week till the 27th of june, more on the fablab house news can be found atwww.fablabhouse.com.

Master Project Theme IV: Contextualizing Digital fabrication


Masters project in digital fabrication methods, devices and emergent material formations is continuing with its research. Taking the concepts from their previous projects (fab bots) some students are transforming these into different situations where their machines can be used in other fabrication methods. With team Olaf gipser and faculty Marta Malé–Alemany there was an individual review with each student to push their projects in terms of computation, mechanism, concept and theory.

Master Project Theme I: Eco-Machinic Apparatus


The Eco-Machinic Apparatus for each student is developing. With Claudia Pasquero and Marco Poletto from ecologicstudio as tutors students had been showing their development in research of their specific apparatus. Branching mechanisms, creating forms out of melted wax, recycling materials, and lots of other different systems where one can read and interpret different situations based on the research theme,  With two weeks left to develop their projects, students are preparing for their final research outcome and documentation of the process.

The FabLab House is in Madrid Construction site, ready for the Solar Decathlon Europe 2010 Competition. IaaC Faculty, FabLab House researchers, FabLab team, IaaC students and collaborators are all in Madrid. The competition will stay from the 17th of June till the 27th of the same month. Disseny Hub Barcelona-Opening of works


Opening day at the Design Hub Barcelona

The Design Hub Barcelona is now exhibiting works of famous artists and designers in the world of digital fabrication, Manufacturing Laboratory as a theme – is an exhibition With a variety of works ranging from permanent exhibitions, to a laboratory where one can participate and manufacture real time, and includes workshops and conferences. The permanent Exhibition – Curated by IaaC co-director Marta Malé–Alemany, shows different applications of 3D printing technologies in the world of medicine, food and buildings.Students from School of Architecture at the Architectural Association (AA) together with IaaC students have also exhibited their projects under guidance by Marta Malé–Alemany, Jeroen Van Ameijde (London) and faculty Victor Vina (Iaac-Barcelona).
The Dhub Fab an extension of the fab Lab is also placed at the museum where one can manufacture his/her own projects there in real time. Fablab team will assist these manufacturing processes.

With the help of multiple Grasshopper definitions the results of the initial proposal keep multiplying, each considering different strong points. They are all trying to develop the process to a result that considers all of the given advantages and disadvantages of the existing structure and trying to foresee all interesting behavioural modes of the created space and its influence on the users.
