Reconstruction of the Pier in Burgas, Bulgaria

Emil Burulyanov

The pier in Burgas has been built in the 1960s and intended to be a pleasant place to walk and enjoy the view. Over the years parts of the structure have gradually deteriorated although the most of it is in perfect condition, it has to be adapted slightly to new needs and additionally braced. New programme of the structure is to include activities that has not been planned before but have over the years proved to be interesting and widely practised on it. Among them are fishing, walks, picnics and diving. Additionally seating areas and shading are to be implemented as, as proved over its life span the current construction does not offer such and they are strongly needed. The programme is to evolve over the project, hand in hand with the architectural expression, which is to take different forms and attempts.
