Spring Workshops @ Fab Lab Barcelona

El Fab Lab Barcelona lanza su oferta de workshops de primavera para personas interesadas en experimentar y aprender sobre los procesos de fabricación digital personal. Los talleres estarán enfocados en los diferentes procesos de digitalización de objetos físicos, y materialización de información digital; para el desarrollo de los proyectos se realizarán tutoriales introductorios a Rhinoceros, asi como tambien la experimentacion en diferentes tipos de software libre y open source. Cada taller estará enfocado en un proyecto a desarrollar por el participante usando las diferentes tecnologías disponibles en el Fab Lab, y tendrá la oportunidad de compartir sus diseños con la red mundial de laboratorios.

Fab Academy Barcelona 2012 mid term sessions

The Fab Lab Barcelona is one of the super-nodes of the Fab Academy program worldwide, which supervises the mechanisms, implications and applications of digital fabrication. The Fab Academy is a modular course offered by the Fab Lab Network, with the participation of 19 labs (Amsterdam, Nairobi, Providence, Lima, Jeddah, among others) and more than 70 students. Final projects will be presented on May 30th through the videoconference system.

DHUB FAB at Nits dels Museus

Nits dels Museus is a one night event in which all museums of Barcelona are open until 1am for free, during the second weekend of May. During this night the DHUB FAB, located at the exhibition Fabrication Laboratory (Curated by Marta Male-Alemany and produced by IAAC), offered the open lab sessions, an opportunity for anyone to make anything in a Fab environment. More than 200 visitors visited the Fab Lab and experienced live activities related with the implications and applications of digital fabrication.

The DHUB FAB is a project by the Fab Lab Barcelona and the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia, in collaboration with the Disseny Hub of Barcelona. The DHUB FAB project just finished activities yesterday (May22nd), after more than 30 workshop offered to Schools and specialized professionals of different fields of knowledge and its relation with digital fabrication. GREEN FAB LAB – Project presentation

Last Friday, 11 Februrary the IAAC community launched its latest project. The GREEN FAB LAB will be a research, education and knowledge center which will put together Nature, Technology, Architecture and Experience, in a mix of activities for the Barcelona community as well as in conjunction with international partners. The event was hosted by IAAC’s President Javier Nieto and presented by IAAC’s Director Vicente Guallart, who explained the timeline for the next few years in Valldaura at the Collserola Park in Barcelona, where the GREEN FAB LAB will be located. The project will be possible thanks to the collaboration of the Ministerio de Industria, Turismo y Comercio, La Caixa, Parc de Collserola, Ajuntament of Cerdanyola del Vallés, among other companies and institutions.

This week at Fab Lab Bcn…

Fab Academy sessions continue. Participants already went through the first 3 modules of the Fab Academy 2011 program, subjects referred to Digital Fabrication principles, project management and 3d modeling have been broadcasted at the videoconference. This year’s academy has 13 sites, with 50 students from 7 different countries.
