MAIN IDEAS SUMARY:
1) Architects should Learn from tree structures organization, and nature.
2) We should remove all the impurities form our buildings.
3) It’s difficult to combine “good architecture” and economical factors.
4) Architecture should be done for people, not only for architects.
QUESTION: What kind of elements should architects take into account, to create good architecture with “economical solutions” which could be interesting for builders, politics, and users at the same time?
In the first statement of the text written By Toyo Ito, he starts thinking that architecture should learn from Tree Structures, in order to apply its basics to create architectural elements more integrated with the natural and urban environments. The idea of no boundaries between inner and outer spaces is important to achieve this kind of architecture.
Following the same explanation, architecture should be more connected with nature in order to create more sustainable solutions, removing what is unnecessary and minimizing the impact on the environment.
Architecture is endowed with an halo of speculation and useful ideas that sometimes are balanced and sometimes not. Toyo Ito is worried about this in his text. He said most of the times is not possible to deal with the economical factors and the worst solutions become real in order to get as much money as possible.
He ends the text saying that architecture should be made (and explained) for normal people, not for architects. Actually a big amount of projects are done in a way that only feeds the intellectual necessities of the architects, and nevertheless the inhabitants don’t feel comfortable or don’t understand what’s going on.
